MOTHER by Csaba Mera
her son awakens on sheets
that were her sails
filled with the lusty breath of life
he sees her face
on other faces
in other faces
he smells her fragrant presence
in acacia breezes
and orange blossoms
he sees her soft eyes
in the edge of a still winter night
full of life yet
full of sadness
tender loving brown eyes
that seemed to presage the agonies
that would torment her
he sees her mouth
whose smiles
were kisses
and whose anger
was love
he remembers well
her sweet blind innocence
crushed crumbled
like the petals of a crisp dry rose
whose form though gone
is brought to mind
by the gentle fragrance
left behind
so he recalls
the innocence
the love
the grace
and how these virtues
blessed his dear
