1. NO BUSINESS HERE
princes and paupers
reapers and hawkers
all come out at night and see
their feeble frame’s humanity
for ‘ere they lay on sheets of satin
sackcloth hay or wooden slatting
their spirits floated free in space
no torso arms legs or face
but now they are bound
in one place to be found
daily fettered to flesh and bone
not seeing together they are alone
alone at the mercy of their twisted minds
wherein passion anxiety and fear they wind
a macabre sequence of painful events
and not till death do they repent
life is not life nor death the end
reality is pretense the mind it bends
with rules and logic of its own creation
from family units to all the nations
alas soon ‘twill all be over
the present gone and spirits sober
we all will “fly” beyond the stratosphere
for we really have no business here
2. HER REGRET
now she begins her
new life
on the financial gains
from her departed former mate
but alas
it dawns on her
doubting mental faculties
that in spite of all
the money
and the plastic fun
life is not the same
not quite complete
without him
